Kurdish Creative Film Centre
KCFC
was founded to educate and engage the region’s large Kurdish Community
in the
medium of film. Through the provision and development of filmmaking
skills, the
organisation wishes to provide fellow Kurds with the means through
which to
record their experiences and express their cultural identities. But we
do not
exist in isolation. Our training is open and available to all. We wish
to
encourage collaboration and creative crossover between the many
culturally
diverse communities of the region, and to provide a platform for those
voices.
Aims
To
serve people from Kurdish communities and new Migrant who wish to gain
a
foothold in the film industry, through the provision of film, and to
initiate
creative and educational outreach projects in local communities, and to
build
relationships with other companies and organisations wherever mutual
benefit
may be served.
The
objectives of KCFC shall be:
To
promote social justice and proactively encourage inclusiveness.
To
promote equality and challenge inequality
To
provide skills and support the personal development of individuals and
groups
from culturally diverse communities
To
build capacity to
support sustainability
To
become a self-sustaining entity.
To
continue to run and to expand the Manchester Kurdish Film Festival, a
platform
for Kurdish film, art, and music, both as an annual event in
Manchester, and as
a touring programme, to be made available to other festivals and arts
venues.
To
expand our film production from shorts to features, and thereafter to
make one
long film (be it a feature or a documentary) and several short films
every year.
To
establish closer links between the British and Kurdish filmmaking
communities,
and to become a distributor / agency for Kurdish films in Europe
To
facilitate KCFC activity in other regions of the UK, with the ultimate
goal of
an office in Kirkuk, Kurdistan.
